GPSR on TikTok Shop: EU Seller Requirements

What TikTok Shop asks for

TikTok Shop's seller university page for the German market lists three requirements: an EU-based Responsible Person, name, registered business name, address, phone, email, acting as a contact point for customers and authorities on product safety matters; manufacturer information that must be clearly visible both on the product and in the online offer; and required warning and safety notices on both the product and the product page. Category-specific documentation is layered on top: cosmetics need precautions, warnings, an ingredient list and expiry date; electronics need a CE mark, warnings, instructions, a WEEE label and manufacturer details; toys need warnings, instructions, manufacturer info, a CE mark, a WEEE label and age warnings.

Where fields are entered

TikTok's own page describes the path as: log in to Seller Center, go to Manage Products > Add New Product, and complete the Product Compliance section. Integration documentation from M2E, which syncs to TikTok's own API, describes the backend concepts as a Qualification Center where Manufacturer and Responsible Person records are created, a listing filter for "Has GPSR details," and an "Action required" panel for validation errors. These are the integrator's description of TikTok's data model, not a TikTok-authored page we could fetch directly.

What happens if it's missing

Non-compliance can lead to product deactivation. Ensure required information is submitted timely after a reminder.

Where buyers see it

TikTok requires the Responsible Person's contact details to be "retrievable from the product label in a language easily understood by consumers," and the manufacturer's information to be "clearly visible both on the product and in the online offer," which implies the listing itself carries this data. We found no confirmation of a dedicated product-safety tab on the buyer-facing product page. Treat the exact page location as unverified.

Marketplace-specific quirks

• Non-EU manufacturers. "For each Manufacturer based outside Europe, you must add at least one Responsible Person." TikTok allows multiple Responsible Person records per manufacturer.
• Language. "All information and documents should be submitted in the official language of the market to prevent product rejection."
• Images. A cropped label graphic is not enough: "A photo of the label alone will not be accepted. The label must be clearly visible and affixed to the packaging."
• Scope. TikTok's page names eight EU markets explicitly: Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Poland.
• Exempted categories named by TikTok. Food, medicines, beverages, and live plants and animals.
• Pre-13-December-2024 stock. Not addressed in any TikTok Shop source we could find. Open question.

How Ariadne's record maps onto TikTok Shop's fields

Ariadne's manufacturer and Responsible Person blocks match what TikTok's Product Compliance section and Qualification Center ask for directly: name, address and email on both sides. TikTok's form also wants a phone number, which Ariadne's record does not currently capture, so add that separately. The warnings array covers the "warning and safety notices" requirement, though TikTok also wants category-specific documentation, CE marks, WEEE labels, ingredient lists, that Ariadne's generic product record does not model, since those sit outside Article 19's distance-sale disclosure and vary by product category.
